Please join us this Friday April 18 as Oliver Payne presents a rare screening of Tape Crackers. Director Rollo Jackson videotapes his friend, Jungle music enthusiast and nutcase Michael Finch, talking about his large collection of tapes recorded from pirate radio stations in ‘90s London. Finch’s oral history of Jungle music is interspersed with anecdotes about the stations, DJs, MCs, cassette tapes (the first time round), and clubbing in his Moschino jeans.

Tape Crackers is one of the best films I have seen in years. Quite simply, a more honest portrait of the pirate radio scene in London does not exist. I screened it once in NY and a wealthy young antiques dealer was bored to tears and walked out, whereas Cory Arcangel stayed all night and absolutely loved it. Make of that what you will. Informative, funny, joyful, grimy and unashamedly in love with life – Hold tight and keep it locked.
