In  The NSA Domestic Spying Program, filmmaker Laura Poitras profiles William Binney, a 32-year veteran of the National Security Agency turned whistle-blower. Regarded as one of the best mathematicians and code breakers in the NSA’s history, Binney resigned in 2001 to protest the agency’s broad use of intelligence gathering programs against citizens of the United States. In 2011, Binney began speaking out publicly against the program, risking his freedom, livelihood, and personal relationships to warn Americans about the dangers of NSA domestic spying.  The NSA Domestic Spying Program is adapted from a longer work in progress by Laura Poitras.

The video will be introduced by Parker Higgins, an activist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a San Francisco-based organization at the forefront of the efforts to bring government surveillance programs back within the law and the Constitution. Following the screening, Higgins will discuss the current state of resistance against the NSA’s domestic spying program and answer questions from the audience.
